In 1992, Savo Heleta was a young boy enjoying an idyllic, peaceful childhood in Gorazde, a primarily Muslim city in Bosnia. At the age of just 13, Savo's life was turned upside down as war broke out. When Bosnian Serbs attacked the city, Savo and his family, ethnic Serbs, became objects of suspicion overnight.
Through the next two years, they endured treatment that no human being should ever be subjected to. Their lives were threatened, they were shot at, terrorized, put in a detention camp, starved, and eventually stripped of everything they owned. But after two long years, Savo and his family managed to escape. And then the real transformation took place.
From his childhood before the war to his internment and eventual freedom, we follow Savo's emotional journey from a young teenager seeking retribution to a peace-seeking diplomat seeking healing and reconciliation. As the war unfolds, we meet the people who helped shape Savo's life, from his brave younger sister Sanja to Meho, his fatherís childhood friend who would become the family's ultimate betrayer.
Through it all, we begin to understand this young man's arduous struggle to forgive the very people he could no longer trust. At once powerful and elegiac, NOT MY TURN TO DIE offers a unique look at a conflict that continues to fascinate and enlighten us.

When Kaza Kingsley was born in Cleveland, Ohio, they say the resident doctor that delivered her had been up all night studying. She yawned just at the wrong moment, and baby Kaza slipped right through her fingers! But the resident's open textbook lay on the floor, shielding Kaza from a hard fall. Baby Kaza supposedly wailed for a moment but then stopped, lovingly gazing at the pages and words draped around her.
We think this was the beginning of the end.
Kaza loved to write since she was old enough to pick up a pen. After playing tag and other normal kid games, she used to drag friends into her back yard to write books at her picnic table for as long as they could stand it. Her first book was about a terrifying octopus that shot ink at people and made them do math. Since then she has written pretty much anything she can, including poetry, short stories and nonfiction.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo has been extensively researching the connections between blood type, food, and disease. Combining his findings with previously established research by other scientists in his field, Dr. D'Adamo published his first book, Eat Right 4 Your Type, in 1996. It became a New York Times bestseller and brought worldwide recognition to Dr. D'Adamo's blood-type theories. NutriBooks named it one of the ten most influential health books ever written.
The Next Evolution In Dieting
Dr. D'Adamo's blood-type theories contributed to his ongoing research on genetics and nutrition and led to the publication of The GenoType Diet in 2008. Based on the powerful conclusion that individuals have the ability to alter their genes' behavior, The GenoType Diet takes the science behind the Blood Type Diet a significant step further. Dr. D'Adamo's statistical analyses of the clustering together of genes, disorders, and physical traits produced six distinct and durable categories: the six GenoTypes.

We all know one hard and undeniable truth: Physical beauty comes with tremendous power, and tremendous benefits. Those who possess it are generally luckier in love, more likely to be popular, and more apt to get better grades in school. But very few of us realize just how much looks affect every aspect of our lives. Recent studies document that people blessed with good looks earn about 10% more than their average-looking colleagues. They are also more likely to get hired and promoted at work. What exactly is this "physical attractiveness" phenomenon and how does it affect each and every one of us?
Dr. Gordon L. Patzer has devoted the last 30 years to investigating this unsettling phenomenon for both women and men, and how it touches every part of our lives. In LOOKS, he reveals not only its impact on romance, but also on family dynamics, performance in school, career, courtroom proceedings, politics and government. LOOKS is the first book to explore how the power of beauty affects both sexes and how the rise of reality TV shows, cosmetic surgery, and celebrity culture have contributed to our culture's overall obsession with being beautiful.
Unflinching and topical, LOOKS uncovers the sometimes ugly truth about beauty and its profound effects on all of our lives.

footnotes, bibliography, soft cover, $14.95)
Much Ado About Almost Nothing presents the history of
electronic invention through profiles of dozens of
personalities who have diligently followed the electron to
riches and ruin.
Author Hans Camenzind shows a palpable love for the
oddballs and eccentrics who tamed electricity: scientists,
engineers, inventors, self-promoters, professors,
visionaries, speculators, moguls, geniuses, politicians,
venture capitalists, and con artists.
Camenzind covers well-known luminaries such as Ben
Franklin, Michael Faraday, Samuel F.B. Morse, Alexander
Graham Bell, Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Guglielmo
Marconi, Philo Farnsworth and William Shockley. But he also
covers the lesser lights who nonetheless made important
contributions to the history of invention. Read about:
Lee de Forest, the self-proclaimed "Father of Radio" and
a 3-times rags-to-riches inventor and conniver.
John Baird, who built the first TV set in his attic in
1923. He got rich, went broke, and was made obsolete in the
late 1930s by RCA.
Camenzind races through the history of electronic discovery
like a charged particle. He briefly sketches the lives,
education, achievements, fortunes and misfortunes of dozens
of explorers and risk-takers.
Topics covered in Much Ado About Almost Nothing include:
Electricity, magnetism, electromagnetism
X-rays, cathode rays, subatomic particles
Transmitters, receivers, amplifiers

When Vanessa Vega would feel the darkness begin to come over her, she would do anything, hoping to escape it. Take a hot bath. Read a book. Watch TV. Talk to a friend. But then, finally, unable to fight it any longer, she would give in, head into the bathroom...and cut.
Comes the Darkness, Comes the Light is a disturbing yet ultimately redemptive and inspiring memoir of a young woman compelled to injure herself in an attempt to cope with her overwhelming feelings of anxiety in the only way she knew how. Though still unknown to many, this disorder affects an estimated one percent of the population...and is on the rise, especially among teens.
This affecting, heart-wrenching book follows author Vanessa Vega's progress as she climbs her way back to emotional health and rebuilds her life. Readers will go inside the mind of a "cutter," taking the journey with her as she struggles against her exhausting and shameful secret ritual.
As Vega faces the anger and insecurity that lead to each encounter -- while working with a therapist to understand the real motivating factors behind her behavior -- Comes the Darkness, Comes the Light reveals what brings many to this disorder...and what can lead them out. With stunning insight, Vega has written a moving first-person account of self-injury, struggle, and redemption.
