A literary glimpse at what people are doing in every nook and cranny of Louisiana, minute by minute. Created from submissions by Louisiana residents, this "day in the life" compilation offers an authentic diary of what it's like to live in the curiously complex state of Louisiana. Contributors---- published and non-published writers of varying ages and backgrounds from all over the state-- were asked to write in third person about one minute in their day, and told to avoid cliches and the mention of such overripe topics as Mardi Gras and recent natural disasters. The selections-119 pieces from 109 contributors-were compiled to offer an experience of Louisiana over one day's time, revealing in poetic prose the landscape, heritage, talk, and traditions of a place so often-and lately-romanticized, demonized, adored, pitied and patronized.
