About the Book

A hurricane blows over the pen where Nada and her cousins live, Avery Island, Louisiana. They run in all directions. Nada, the runt and blind in one eye, wants to get all nutria back together so they can keep their traditions and teach them to the baby nutrias. But Fierte would rather be the Queen of Belle Isle, Gourmand would rather eat Mrs. Raccoon's cooking, Colere prefers to nurse his wounds, and Lothario would rather go to the theater and socialize with famous actors. Nada must risk her life to save the baby nutrias trapped underneath a house that is collapsing after a disaster at Jefferson Island before her cousins realize how important the family is and what true friendship means. Animal folklore from Cajun country for 8-12 year olds. A moral tale that will also appeal to adults. Based on 2 events in Louisiana history. Enjoy the flavor of Southwest Louisiana.
